Remember to play!

I was out riding my bicycle the other day and was riding down the Platte River, which has an excellent path that runs along next to it. They are working on the path and have detoured a length of it through a neighborhood that is just south of “Invesco Field at Mile High” stadium. This is a housing project and if you have ever seen one it is an impoverished and somewhat crowded. I was riding down the street and there was this group of young children playing. I am guessing they were around 7 or 8 years old and they had this old basketball and they were playing basketball, well kind of. They were playing up against the side of the house and there was no hoop. Made me think of simpler times, when I was a child myself and there was no Internet, no cable tv and we always found a way to entertain ourselves much like these kids had been. I could not help but smile and take joy in their entertaining themselves. Sure they were from a poor family no doubt and living in a poor area. They didn’t seem to care too much about that. They just wanted to play!
